Not Too Bad

The Not Too Bad midlength is our favourite mini log and has become our bestseller over the years. The design is based on a board one of our friends once bought in France. The first time we tried it, we fell in love with the cruisy vibe it had while still being surprisingly lively and easy to turn. We took inspiration from this board and made some iterations over the years. After various rounds of shaping and testing, we landed on this design and gave it an ironic name: Not Too Bad.

It holds a lot of volume in the center while it’s very thinned out towards the rails. This combined with a relatively high bottom rocker is the main reason this board rides like it does. It’s hard to find a place where you can’t use this board. The big nose and high volume makes for a very early, almost longboard like entry. You can catch a tiny wave and ride it out to the beach. The spoon in the nose makes cheeky noserides possible, while the thin rails and rocker keep it loose and versatile. We’ve seen friends take it up to 2.5m French walls without a problem.

It’s a very cruizy board for more log-style surfing designed for long rides and big turns, but nothing you can’t find in the North-Sea. We usually ride it as a single fin, but on steeper or more powerful waves, a 2+1 setup adds that extra bit of stability.

How it rides

Works best in 0.5–2.5 m waves with an open face. It paddles in early, carries speed easily, and feels composed and predictable through longer turns. Great for days where you want solid glide, plenty of flow, and the option to step forward for a quick noseride.

CORK OR WOOD? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE

cork

Gives the board more flex. It’s got a natural dampening effect that makes it feel softer and more responsive under your feet. You don’t need wax: the texture provides grip on its own! Over time you’ll see light footprints forming where you stand.

wood

Has less flex, feels more solid underfoot and lasts even longer. We usually recommend wood for boards over 7 foot. The extra stiffness works perfectly on longer shapes.
