About us
We are Antoine and Jurriaan, or simply Anti and Jur. Two good friends who met while studying in Delft (Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering) and discovered a shared passion for surfing. In 2012, we started shaping surfboards together as a hobby in the basement of Jur's parents in Rotterdam.
Through the years we shaped many boards for ourselves, friends and eventually many other people. When we figured that we were not too bad at board building, we decided to turn it into our full-time profession. Being designers and engineers we have always been passionate about the technique and physics behind surfing and surfboards.
We also became aware about the toxicity of all the chemicals used to build these boards. In 2021 Jur temporarily moved to Australia where he worked for shapers in Torquay. During his time there he came into contact with Jack, the founder of Verdure Surfboards in New Zealand. Jack had developed the FlexFrame technology, an innovative construction method using natural materials like cork, paulownia wood, hemp, and flax. We were instantly intrigued and wanted to learn everything about it.
Jack guided us through the process and taught us the ins and outs of this new way of building surfboards. After testing, experimenting, and refining our shapes, we made a big decision: to fully transition from making traditional PU and EPS boards to shaping FlexFrame boards only.
In March 2023, after years of learning and preparation, Good, Thanks officially launched, with a new way of building good boards and a clean mission.
We build surfboards that surf better and last longer without leaving a heavy mark on the planet
We applied for grants, like CityLab010 in Rotterdam, and bought a CNC-machine and a special board-bending rocker machine from Verdure. Since November 2024 we are in full production mode and collaborate on a daily basis with Verdure.
Lately we have been working on collaborations with surfers like Pepijn Tigges and Jacob Burke and enjoy getting new surfers on our boards, riding a more environmentally friendly board that surfs even better.
building boards differently
We’ve moved away from traditional PU and EPS boards and fully embraced FlexFrame technology, an innovative construction method developed by Verdure Surf. By combining natural materials like cork, paulownia wood, hemp, and flax, we build boards that are lighter, stronger, and better for the planet
