Freddi Fish - Fish

The Freddi Fish model is our favourite allround fun and fast retro fish for anyone who's looking for a loose board for small, fast days and flat sections. Freddi catches waves and generates speed so easily, you'll find yourself zipping around when everyone else is out on longboards.

Freddi Fish

The Freddi Fish is where it all started for us. One of the first boards Antoine and Jurriaan shaped together under their old name ‘Brainfart surfboards’ (...don’t ask, seemed applicable at the time) The first Freddi was an instant hit, and it’s still going strong today. That should say enough.

Freddi is our take on a traditional keel-fin fish, based on the legendary Lis fish by Steve Lis. True to its roots, it’s got a wide tail, straight outline, and low rocker, built for glide and speed in small, weak surf. The twin keels keep it loose and skatey, perfect for trimming and drawing long lines.

What we changed compared to the original fish: thinner rails for a smoother turn, a harder edge in the tail for extra drive and hold, and a touch more rocker for forgiveness. The result is a fast, classic fish that flies over flat sections and handles anything up to shoulder-high if it’s not too steep.

Freddi is ideal for post-beginners and up, the kind of board that makes average days way more fun. No wonder Freddi is still one of Antoine’s go-to boards.

Ride this board two inches shorter than your height to compete with the longboarders.

How it rides

Best in 0.3–1.5 m surf that’s soft or a little mushy. It flies over weak sections, holds speed through drawn-out turns, and brings smooth, classic flow to days that aren’t quite perfect.
